Hokuriku Mazda Achieves 100% Real Renewable Energy Ratio of Electricity Consumed at All Sites through the Supply of Electricity by Regil - Supporting corporate decarbonization by accelerating the improvement of the real renewable energy ratio in its corporate electricity retail business

(Head Office: Nonoichi City, Ishikawa Prefecture; President: Ryosuke Sakai; hereinafter referred to as "Hokuriku Mazda"), and has achieved a renewable energy (*, hereinafter referred to as "renewable energy") ratio of 100% for the electricity used throughout the entire company of Hokuriku Mazda.
In our "Green Energy Business," our electricity retail business for corporate customers, we will accelerate our efforts to support the decarbonization of our corporate customers nationwide, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, by promoting an increase in the ratio of renewable energy ahead of schedule by also utilizing non-fossil certificate trading.

*"Renewable energy" in this text includes real renewable energy.

About our electricity retail business for corporate customers
In 2016, MHI began providing electricity retail services to corporate clients based on its expertise in power procurement cultivated through its bulk condominium power supply service business launched in 2004. We are working to increase the ratio of renewable energy, including non-fossil certificate trading, and are currently supporting the decarbonization of our customers through the supply of electricity to approximately 7,500 small and medium-sized corporations and municipalities. Our goal had been to achieve a real renewable energy ratio of 1001 TP3T by 2030, but as the importance of realizing a decarbonized society continues to grow, we have accelerated our plan to increase the ratio, and are currently supplying power to new customers who have installed our services with a real renewable energy ratio of 1001 TP3T. Currently, we are supplying electricity to new customers who have installed our service with a real renewable energy ratio of 100%.

Following the government's "Carbon Neutral Declaration," momentum toward decarbonization is growing, especially among local governments and large corporations. In addition to this, the recent need to reduce Scope 3 emissions of greenhouse gases (supply chain emissions) is also driving the demand for decarbonization among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are part of the supply chains of large enterprises. On the other hand, SMEs, which face a challenging business environment due to high prices in recent years, often find it difficult to make additional investments solely for the purpose of decarbonization. We, too, have received many requests to "reduce electricity costs but also aim for decarbonization" under our mission of "not making decarbonization an intractable problem," and we are working to provide multifaceted support, including the supply of electricity at low prices and with a renewable energy ratio of 100%, utilizing our power procurement capabilities, and contributing to the enhancement of corporate value through decarbonization. We are working to provide support.

Background of the Decision to Introduce the System to Hokuriku Mazda
Hokuriku Mazda is a directly-owned dealership that delivers "Driving Pleasure" to many customers in the Hokuriku region, with 19 dealerships located in Ishikawa, Toyama, and Fukui prefectures. Mazda operates its business in close cooperation with the local community and aims to contribute to the local community through activities such as the "Ganbarou Hokuriku" campaign to raise funds after the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January 2024. In terms of decarbonization efforts, Mazda's goal is to become carbon neutral throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle by 2050 through initiatives throughout the supply chain, and Hokuriku Mazda, which is responsible for sales, repair, and maintenance as a car dealer, is playing a part in this effort.

While the automotive industry is increasingly focusing on EVs and other environmentally friendly vehicles, it is expected that dealers will be required to further strengthen their efforts in achieving carbon neutrality throughout the supply chain. In addition, as consumers become more environmentally conscious, it is expected that their choice of companies and brands will be influenced by their commitment to decarbonization. In light of this, MHI will supply electricity to Hokuriku Mazda to help the company reduce electricity-related costs and at the same time support its efforts to convert 100% of the electricity it uses to real renewable energy. Through the continuous supply of green energy, we aim to contribute to the decarbonization of Hokuriku Mazda, the automotive industry, and the entire Hokuriku region.

We will continue to contribute to the realization of "unconscious decarbonization" throughout Japan by supplying energy that can both decarbonize and contribute to cost reduction to corporations in various regions and industries.

Comments by Ryosuke Sakai, President and Representative Director of Hokuriku Mazda Motor Co.
As a member of the Mazda Group, Mazda is taking on the challenge of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 across the entire vehicle lifecycle. Currently, we are proposing environmentally friendly models such as hybrids and EVs to our customers, but we felt the need to go beyond that and strengthen our contribution to carbon neutrality in our corporate activities as well.
We believe that the supply of green energy from Regil will enable us to achieve a real renewable energy ratio of 100% for the electricity used at our business sites, thereby significantly reducing Scope2 emissions, which is also important for our carbon neutralization efforts. With the cooperation of Regil, we will continue to make every effort to achieve decarbonized management and become carbon neutral by 2050.
