Industrial storage batteries are expensive and the initial cost of installing them is a hurdle to their introduction, but building owners and managers participating in the project will be able to install storage batteries in their buildings at no initial cost, thereby strengthening BCP measures for the entire building.

A certain percentage of electricity stored in storage batteries during normal times*3for the building's emergency power supply and the remainder for the aggregation business.*4The electricity will be utilized for the following purposes. In the event of a power outage due to a disaster, etc., all stored electricity will be supplied to the emergency power supply. We control and maintain these storage batteries, and there is no operational burden on the building owner/manager.

Project Background 

In 2004, we became the first company in Japan to offer "bulk power receiving service for condominiums.*5The company has commercialized the "Electricity Demand Forecasting Service" and provides a one-stop service for condominiums with approximately 2,200 buildings and 175,000 households (as of the end of January 2022), including electricity demand forecasting for each condominium, energy management linked with solar power generation systems and storage batteries, electricity rate calculation, billing, and electricity security.

From December 2022, a demonstration experiment on the use of storage batteries will be conducted at two condominium buildings with bulk power services as part of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Demonstration Project for Further Utilization of Distributed Energy Resources".*6The project has been implemented. The storage batteries are charged with electricity for emergency power supply at all times. When a power outage occurs due to a disaster, the batteries are discharged to supply electricity to the building's common areas (water pumps, elevators, etc.) and tenants' private areas (servers, communication equipment, air conditioning, lights).
The storage battery control service fee will depend on the size of the building and other conditions.
