REZIL begins providing operational support for Tohoku Electric Power Company's "Kurashi Service" - Know-how that has grown "REZIL BPaaS" will help strengthen new businesses

(headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Yasuzumi Tanji, President & CEO; hereinafter "the Company"), whose mission is to "make decarbonization an intractable problem," has begun providing operational support for "Kurashi Service," a new and growing service for consumers launched by Tohoku Electric Power Company (headquartered in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; Kazuhiro Ishiyama, President & CEO; hereinafter "Tohoku Electric Power"). (headquartered in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; Kazuhiro Ishiyama, President & CEO; hereinafter "Tohoku Electric"), has begun providing operational support for "Kurashi Service," a service for consumers that continues to grow.

◾️Background of this initiative
In 2021, we launched the "Energy DX Business" to support DX of energy-related companies by leveraging our system infrastructure and business operation know-how cultivated through our bulk power receiving service for condominiums and electricity retailing service for corporate customers. In the Energy DX Business, through the provision of REZIL BPaaS (Business Process as a Service) (*1), we aim to improve the operational efficiency and ultimately profitability of energy-related companies facing drastic changes in the business environment, thereby creating the capacity to invest in decarbonization and promoting decarbonization of the entire energy industry beyond the boundaries of companies. The goal is to contribute to the decarbonization of the energy industry as a whole by improving the operational efficiency and profitability of energy-related companies facing a rapidly changing business environment.

REZIL BPaaS" provides consulting services for business analysis and improvement, system construction and operation, and BPO customized to the client's needs. In the four years since the service was launched, the number of clients and end users has exceeded 14 companies and 452,000 users (*2), respectively, and some of our clients have achieved a 16-point improvement in end user satisfaction while reducing operational costs by 401 TP3T.

On the other hand, Tohoku Electric Power has been supporting the lives of local residents for more than 70 years under the group slogan, "More, So, Power. MHI and Tohoku Electric Power Company formed a capital and business alliance in March 2022, and have had ongoing discussions to date to create business synergies. In the course of these discussions, MHI launched REZIL BPaaS as a new business that includes many service management operations for consumers, and we believe that we can create synergies in terms of growth and expansion of Tohoku Electric's new business by utilizing the know-how of operation construction and improvement that we have accumulated through stabilizing the business over the past several years, This initiative has been realized.

I was born in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, and have lived with electricity provided by Tohoku Electric Power Company from the time I was born until I was a prep school student in Sendai. As I participated in the management of our company and became involved in energy, I came to understand how much effort Tohoku Electric had made behind the scenes to make electricity available to us, and I have become increasingly grateful to the company for its support. I have been involved in discussions within our company and have been preparing for the launch of REZIL BPaaS in the hope of returning the favor.

REZIL BPaaS was launched by members trained in DX operations at MISUMI, Amazon, Rakuten, and other companies, and has been refined together with more than 14 energy-related companies. We hope to support the company's efforts to promote new services to improve people's lives in addition to electricity with our know-how in DX operations.
Our company's Purpose is to "continue to resist social challenges as a point of unity. We will continue to unite with various companies in the energy industry to make progress toward the realization of affluent lifestyles.
